Refund Policy Overview

Our refund policy is designed to be fair and transparent while reflecting the unique nature of legal services. This policy applies to all legal services, consultations, and retainer fees.

Important: Legal services are professional services that cannot be "returned" like physical products. Refunds are subject to specific conditions outlined below.

Consultation Fees

Free Initial Consultation

We offer a free 30-minute initial consultation for new clients. No payment required, no refund necessary.

Extended Consultations

Paid consultations beyond the initial 30 minutes are non-refundable once the consultation has been conducted.

Retainer Fees

Refundable Retainers

Unused Portions: Any unused portion of your retainer will be refunded upon completion or termination of representation.

Trust Account: Retainer fees are held in our client trust account and applied against services as they are rendered.

Monthly Statements: You will receive monthly statements showing retainer usage and remaining balance.

Non-Refundable Retainers

Special Engagement Retainers

Some cases may require a non-refundable engagement retainer. This will be clearly disclosed in the engagement letter before payment.

Service-Specific Refund Policies

Document Preparation

Before Completion: Full refund if you cancel before we begin work on your documents.
After Completion: No refund once documents are completed and delivered.

Court Representation

Before Court Date: Partial refund possible if cancelled 48+ hours before scheduled appearance.
Day of Court: No refund for same-day cancellations or no-shows.

Ongoing Representation

Client Termination: Refund of unused retainer minus work completed.
Firm Withdrawal: Full refund of unused retainer if we withdraw for reasons other than client non-payment.

Refund Process

Request Submission

Submit your refund request in writing via email or letter, including case details and reason for refund.

Review Process

We will review your request within 5-7 business days and provide a written response.

Processing

Approved refunds are processed within 10-14 business days to your original payment method.

Refund Exceptions

No Refunds Available For:

• Services already rendered or completed
• Court filing fees and other third-party costs
• Emergency or rush services
• Cases where client provided false information
• Dissatisfaction with legal outcomes beyond our control

Dispute Resolution

If you disagree with our refund decision, you may:

• Request a review by our senior partner
• File a complaint with the State Bar Association
• Seek mediation through the local bar association
• Pursue arbitration as outlined in your engagement letter
