Cancellation Policy Overview

We understand that circumstances may require you to cancel or reschedule legal services. This policy outlines our cancellation procedures and associated refund policies to ensure fairness for both clients and our firm.

Advance Notice: Earlier cancellation notice allows us to better serve other clients and may result in more favorable refund terms.

Consultation Cancellations

24+ Hours

Full refund or free rescheduling

2-24 Hours

50% refund or rescheduling fee applies

Less than 2 Hours

No refund, full fee charged

Free Initial Consultations: No cancellation fee for free consultations, but we appreciate 24-hour notice when possible.

Emergency Situations: Medical emergencies or other extraordinary circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Legal Service Cancellations

Document Preparation Services

Before Work Begins: 100% refund if cancelled before we start drafting

Work in Progress: Partial refund based on completion percentage

After Completion: No refund once documents are finalized and delivered

Court Representation

7+ Days Notice: Full refund minus preparation costs incurred

2-7 Days Notice: 50% refund of representation fee

Less than 48 Hours: No refund, full fee applies

Court Filing Fees: Non-refundable third-party costs

Ongoing Legal Representation

Client Termination: Refund of unused retainer minus completed work

Monthly Billing: No refund for current month's services already rendered

Case Settlement: Refund of unused retainer after final billing

How to Cancel Services

Provide Written Notice

Follow up with written cancellation notice including your name, case number, and reason for cancellation.

We will confirm your cancellation and provide details about any applicable refunds or fees.

Rescheduling vs. Cancellation

Rescheduling Benefits

  • • No cancellation fees when rescheduling with adequate notice
  • • Maintain your place in our schedule priority
  • • Preserve case momentum and attorney familiarity
  • • Flexible rescheduling within 30 days of original date

Preferred Option: We encourage rescheduling over cancellation when possible, as it maintains continuity in your legal matter.

Rescheduling Limits: Services may be rescheduled up to two times without penalty. Additional rescheduling may incur administrative fees.

Special Circumstances

Medical Emergencies

Documented medical emergencies affecting you or immediate family members may qualify for full refund regardless of timing.

Court-Ordered Changes

Cancellations due to court rescheduling or other judicial actions are handled without penalty to the client.

Natural Disasters

Cancellations due to natural disasters, severe weather, or other force majeure events are reviewed case-by-case.

Refund Processing Timeline

Review Period: Cancellation requests are reviewed within 2-3 business days.

Approval Notification: You will receive written confirmation of approved refunds within 5 business days.

Processing Time: Refunds are processed to your original payment method within 7-10 business days of approval.

Bank Processing: Additional 3-5 business days may be required for your bank to process the refund.
